Inclusion

SEND and Inclusion

Mathilda Marks Kennedy is a nurturing, ambitious, high achieving and inclusive school. We want all our pupils to feel valued and secure and to achieve their potential in life. We have high expectations for all our pupils and work closely with our parents to make sure their child has the best possible education at MMK

We provide support for children with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) including:

  • Speech, language and communication difficulties including autism spectrum conditions.
  • Cognition and Learning; including specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia
  • Social, Emotional or Mental Health difficulties
  • Sensory and /or Physical needs; including visual or hearing needs or a physical difficulty that affects their learning.

We recognise the importance of early identification and we continuously monitor the progress of all our pupils. Our teachers are skilled in providing support for children of all abilities and needs within the classroom, and we also have trained support staff who deliver specialist programmes to individuals and small groups.

Pupils with SEN are identified through a series of measures including tracking and analysis of data, classroom observation, diagnostic testing and through close liaison between class teachers, our SENCO and parents.

At MMK the academic curriculum is taught within a nurturing and supportive environment. Our school counsellor works closely with the SENCO to ensure the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

When necessary, we work closely with a variety of outside agencies such as Speech and Language Therapy and Educational Psychology services to gain advice and resources for our pupils.

Our SENCO Mrs Weissbraun is always available to discuss your child’s needs. Please telephone the school to make an appointment on 020 8959 6089.
