Year 5 girls win MaccabiGB Netball Tournament

On Wednesday afternoon, 2nd November, in bright sunshine with a chill in the air, our MMK netball squad experienced great heights by winning the MaccabiGB Jewish Primary Schools’ Year 5 tournament at Immanuel College.

With 11 Jewish schools entering the tournament, MMK entered 2 teams into what proved to be an extremely successful day for MMK.

Five girls played for our "A" team, all able to play in any position, and the starting line up proved so strong, it was agreed they would remain in those positions throughout the afternoon. They battled hard and dominated each game, winning the first 2 games 4-0, each game against hard opposition. Word soon started to spread that we were possibly a win away from winning the trophy and winning that game 1-0 we had a long wait for the last few matches to finish and then, "THE WINNERS ARE MMK "A".....  Managed on the day by Mr Thorne, the "A" team played fast, accurate, long ball passing and thoroughly deserved this trophy win.

Our "B" team, managed by Mrs Levenson, enjoyed their own success on the day, that of drawing 2 of their 3 matches, also against some strong opposition. With a squad of 6 players, they competed using a rotating substitute and showed some great attacking play, finishing in the top half of their league.

It was so good to see both teams cheering each other on, as neither team played at the same time, so were able to provide some additional vocal help from the touchline.  Also, we had a fantastic turnout of parents and supporters cheering our every move, culminating in the lifting of the trophy.

Thank you to all our parents who provided transport to and from the venue and to Mrs Benjamin for her administrative   assistance.  Also, a special thank you to our Wednesday and Thursday morning Netball coach, Natalie Kenton....

 "A" Team - Autumn Champions:  Natasha R (3 goals), India H, Rachel C (6 goals), Libby S and Hannah S.

 "B" Team:  Kira M, Edie D, Isla H, Ariella P, Chloe K, Gabriella B.
